Gaming cafes, or Internet cafes, can offer a great opportunity to many people with low investment options. But are gaming cafes profitable?

1. Invest in just enough machines
If you happen to have a fair bit of capital at your expense, you might be tempted to buy a lot of computers because you’ll think: the more machines, the more people. But the machines also require regular maintenance, and you need to keep them tip-top, day in and day out.
Make sure you buy just enough machines to start you off; there should be no more computers than your floor space will comfortably allow. There’s little point in buying a lot of systems and cramping them all together will not sit well with your clients.
Everyone wants plenty of personal space, especially now. Also, fewer machines will mean you’ll be able to look after them, and all the little things like keyboards, mice, etc. all the better. Starting with 10 computers will be just fine.
2. Stay up to date with games
Make sure you have all the contemporary games that have the gaming world in their grasp. If you keep old games and don’t update your game collection, you will soon lose your customers.
It is essential for you to be in the know. Subscribe to relevant gaming magazines and newsletters to always be the first to know what’s new. And make sure you incorporate what is new in your set up.
Also, notice which games are disrupting the ambiance of the pace or are causing you financial loss. If players of a particular game are being physically/verbally violent or are being hard on the keyboards or the headsets, you might want to remove that game, no matter how many gamers might want to play it.
You’ll save much more in the long run by not having to constantly replace the keyboards and the headsets and by not losing customers who are looking for a friendly playing environment.
3. Have fast WiFi
Investing in a fast Internet for your gaming or Internet cafe will keep your customers really, truly happy. And happy customers come back, guys, it’s that simple. There’s no rocket science to it.
It might seem like a good idea to save on the Internet when you’re setting up your establishment, but it really isn’t. Gaming is all about connectivity, and you can’t give your gamers crappy WiFi and expect them to like your place.

4. Get good computers
Similar to the point discussed above, it might appear to be a great idea to get computers with slightly below-par hardware in order to save your capital. But it’s really not.
Instead of getting a lot of computers with bad hardware, invest in fewer computers with good hardware. This will keep your gamers happy, and will also save you maintenance costs in the long run.
How, you ask? By not making you have to make upgrades to your computers a few months into the cafe’s grand opening. You will actually be doing yourself a favor by getting hardware that is good enough to not need replacement and/or upgrades almost as soon as you’ve bought it.
5. Look after the place yourself
If you’re someone who doesn’t know much about gaming, it might seem a good idea right now to you to hire actual gamers to run the place on their own. Because, gamers will understand gamers better, right?
Okay, yes. Gamers will understand the needs of your clients better. But their gaming prowess doesn’t make them ideal managers as well. Keep in mind that if your staff starts to game during their work hours, your place will go to the dogs.
You can hire gamers to run the place, but you need to be there all the time in order to see that they’re doing their duties and are not gaming during their work hours. You’ll soon learn the ropes by sticking around and taking care of your clients, and if you choose to only occasionally visit your place you will never get a hang of it.
And will soon go out of business, unless you’re exceptionally lucky.
A gaming cafe or an internet cafe is a business that requires far less capital than many other risky options, and promises to give you gorgeous returns if you take care of a few precautions. Which makes gaming cafes profitable.
Provide the right atmosphere, the right location, the right machines, the right games… there’s no reason gamers won’t flock to your doors.
